Tapestry

Tapestry is a weave in which the structural yarns (the warp) are completely covered by the filler yarns (the weft), creating a design. A tapestry for wall decoration is normally only finished on one side while a tapestry for use as a rug is finished on both sides. Crane's tapestries and rugs are woven in this same time-honored tradition.

Rugs are woven flat in the Navajo style rather than with the pile surface technique of Persian carpets. The fiber is usually wool.
